AN INTRODUCTION TO THE KEYBOARD - 2 (semitones, tones, sharps, flats etc)

In my previous post, I introduced the keyboard. This post is simply a continuation.
what are semitones and tones?
tone and semitone

From the diagram above, the smallest distance between two keys is a semitone. A full tone is double
that distance.

flats and sharps
What are sharps and flats on the keyboard? These notes are called accidental notes.
sharps are identified by adding the symbol '#', and flats are identified by the symbol 'b'. The sharps and flats get their names from surrounding keys. The Key of C was used in the picture above (all examples use the Key of C because that is the simplest key to learn as a beginner).

It is important to learn that all keys are numbered from 1-7, starting from the root. The root here refers to any key you choose as your DOH. These numbers are used to derive the chord formula to form chords. Chords will be discussed in a subsequent post.
